It's amazing!
In this new collection, the Amsterdam design studio Onszelf has interpreted Japanese style in a very modern way. Onszelf's two founders Astrid and Claudia are known for their creative wall designs. The two have been a team since 2003, making homes a little more colourful with their distinctive, urban and playful style. If you wish to add a touch of Asian lifestyle your home, look forward to a fine blend of urban shapes and traditional motifs. The hand-drawn designs create a powerful impression and there also some glittering metallic effects here and there. After all, a little glamour is always welcome.

Show your true colours
Natural colours can now be enjoyed in many facets. The fine striped patterns of the slender leaves create a natural dynamic on the wall, providing a richly varied backdrop for selected home accessories. Why choose only one shade when there are so many nuances that blend beautifully with each other?
Keep it simple
Keep it simple: puristic motifs, reduced to the essentials. For us, the most pleasing aspect of Japanese design. The aqua blue and red trees create an abstract impression against the light linen background and are only depicted in their basic elements. Nevertheless, each tree is a small work of art in its own right and features fascinating details. To ensure that you can see the wood for the trees, the wallcovering also incorporates lots of space, creating a tidy, cheerful appearance!
Poetry on the wall
With this fresh and colourful Japanese nature motif, your walls are in bloom all year round. Finely drawn cherry blossoms and exotic feathers achieve the Asian living trend in an instant. And the colours? This is where we make use of vibrant and cheerful colouring. With their watercolour look, these three are immediately welcome in your home.
A great fan
Art and Japanese flair – both feature in this wallcovering motif. The fan ornaments unfold over a large area in coordinated colour combinations. The colour is applied by spatula in Japanese style and reduces the pattern to its basic shape. A dynamic graphic design that makes a statement on the wall, but remains light and casual in any location.
Just dive in
Japanese-style wallcoverings have a lot in their repertoire to save us from everyday grey. Elegant koi carps are an essential feature here. This classic fish swims past surrounded by graceful aquatic plants. The red linen-look background also emphasises the natural character of the design. Pure paradise.
Stunning roof of leaves
Asian lotus leaves don't require much hype. Their abstract shape and size alone are sufficient to create an impressive image against the backdrop of the linen look. A lot, but not too much – in the same way as we like the Japanese style of living.
Chain reaction
As with a long thread, circles encircle circles. But hand-painted, no two are alike, which renders this wallcovering design so interesting. Just the thing for anyone who wants to put modern Japanese art on a wallcovering.
Hidden in the undergrowth
Create a cosy corner in any room with this wonderful digital wallcovering. Sleek leaves form an impermeable mesh on the wall with a fine stripe pattern. The 2.00-metre-wide and 2.80-metre-high wall ornaments can be expanded as desired – if you want to extend it beyond a single corner after all. All you need is a comfortable armchair and your current favourite read!
Underneath cherry tree in moonlight
With this 2.00-metre-wide and 2.80-metre-high digital print, you can sit dreamily under the cherry tree all year round and admire the wonderful flowers. Small songbirds with colourful feathers provide excellent company. Even without a successful cherry harvest and real bird song, the enchanting atmosphere is still perfect to relax in.
A tribute to Japan
With small but very fine yet expressive details drawn from Japanese culture, this digital print pays homage to the land of the sunset at 2 metres wide and 2.80 metres high. Gingko leaves, fan ornaments, lamps, cherry blossoms, fishing boats and other details form a coherent framework which sets Japanese beauty against a soft pink sky with the mustard-coloured mount. Japanese characters add the final perfect touch. Studio Onszelf has immortalised itself with these symbols.
